FAMILY TOWNHOUSE W9
Studio Sidika was commissioned to work up a scheme for a complete renovation for a five-bedroom townhouse in Little Venice, West London. The client was a lovely family of five with a keen eye for contemporary art and Belgian minimalist design. The chosen schemes also harmonise with the Victorian architectural detailing of the house.
We worked alongside Belgian Architect Ramses Frederick who designed the kitchen extension in the basement, which added about 40 sqm of floorspace to the house. The bespoke kitchen was realised by Anthony Mullan and features beautiful Calacatta Vagli worktops and backsplash, solid oak units and Miele appliances.
In the reception room, we aimed to create a serene and elegant atmosphere with a modernist influence. The wall to wall bespoke joinery unit runs from the living room through to the study, concealing a drinks cabinet, a TV and two desks. It also features a beautiful fire place in the centre of the room. It was realised by Andy Gardiner’s workshop. We re-upholstered the two 1950’s tub chairs in a vintage blue velvet from Stark Fabrics.
The sofa was also bespoke as it is extra long in order to sit the whole family! Two floor lamps from Artemide stand on each side of the sofa and provide a lovely light for reading. We used gorgeous long sheer curtains with French return metal poles in our window treatment to let as much light in as possible. Fabrics used on the cushions are by Lelievre.
To link the house together, we introduced some fun in the hallway and stairs by covering the walls with a joyful vegetal print from Elitis that runs through the ground and first floor.
Then we colour matched the wallpaper and used the colours in the paint scheme up to the third floor. The walls in the guest cloakroom have been lined with a chic saffron coloured linen to add a splash of energy in the scheme.
